Baseball Bats for Christmas

After illustrating A Promise is a Promise I visited Michael in Rankin Inlet for the first time; my stay there was an incredible experience. I went for dog sled rides, ate raw seal meat and took over 20 rolls of film even though I had many problems with my camera freezing up. This material was invaluable to me during the illustration of our second book, Baseball Bats for Christmas (here you can see the Japanese translation of this book).

Michael tells a story from his youth about how Repulse Bay received trees one year for Christmas that were dutifully turned into baseball bats.
